Tellez appeared to aggravate his knee while attempting to make a defensive play in foul territory in the eighth inning. He finished the frame but was removed to start the ninth.
The 25-year-old has been instrumental in Toronto’s rise up the American League standings, hitting .291 with a .909 OPS through 34 games this season. He has split his time between first base and designated hitter.
An injury to Tellez would be a big blow to a Blue Jays club already missing two of its top offensive weapons in Bo Bichette and Teoscar Hernandez.
